    Hello Saska,

    This is really interesting.

It is funny to know that we have similar experiences and I am not alone in this territory, I also started investing in investment fund with ABN-Amro and Robeco.

I just wanted to use that as a means to save money, I was blind towards fees and most of all, I really didn’t understand how Robeco calculated their returns. They used a complicated formular that made it seems like you made a lot of money but that is not true in reality, with simple calculations of what I put-in versus what I take-out.

I finally found my new love DeGiro and sold all my positions from mutual funds to index funds/ETFs now. I am happy I moved and with better understanding.

I personally recommend people should start investing with index/ETFs first and build a nice portfolio early.

Finally thanks a lot for this blog as I have found a new investment buddy and because you are young and learning as I am, I am watching to see the outcome.

P.S: I have read 60% of every blog post on this website and at the time of writing this comment, it is 02:54am on Saturday 5th October 2019. I started reading since 11am on Friday 4th October 2019. I truly enjoyed and will definitely revisit some blog post in the future..

    Cheers!!!

      Hi Damiete,

Glad you like the blog! Haha I think most people start with funds as they do not yet feel capable enough to make choices themselves and think that it’s best to rely on people with knowlegde. Unfortunately, you can have huge amounts of knowledge in investing, but beating the market seems impossible. Good to see that you’ve switched to index funds!

Haha don’t skip to much on your sleep though, thats also important! Have a great weekend!
